So I’m test driving a beta version of an opensource WordPress App for Blackberry. So far I haven’t been able to get it to post (or save anything for that matter) so if you are reading this that finally works.
It is a pretty basic build. You type in your login info and it immediatley takes you to a page where you can se a number of different things: your posts, pages, comments, etc. But I have found that the problem lies withing the posting. I try to post something and it pops up with a loading bar “connecting to server” which eventually goes away and I find my posts have not been posted, and do not in fact save. Poo!
Making or editing existing tags or categories doesn’t work either. Again, It would seem successful until you go and look or try to tag something and your tag doesn’t exist.
This app needs a lot of work, I now know why it isn’t very popular. Feeling courageous? Try it out here: http://blackberry.wordpress.org/2009/07/07/wordpress-for-blackberry-beta/
I love music, just like the rest of the world. If you know anything about me, you should know that i listen to A LOT of music. Basically the point of this is I want to be able to go back a few years from now and see what was blaring in my headphones at this point in time. I’m planning to follow up with another one at the end of summer. Compiling this list was insanely hard for me, but i invite you to share your top 5 in the replies! Here’s what I’ve been listening to latley, In no particular order:
Brand New – The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me
3OH!3 – Want
Steel Train – Trampoline
The Matches – E. Von Dahl Killed The Locals
Taking Back Sunday – New Again
I have also been listening to the likes of: Mott The Hoople, Saosin, Something Corporate, All Time Low, Blink 182, NOFX, The Spill Canvas, Say Anything, and Anti-Flag.
Hey guys, just wanted to take a minute to tell you all about my friend Shyann. She has incredible photography skills, and has allowed me to use a lot of her photos on my blog for your viewing pleasure. If you enjoyed any of the pictures in my previous posts, please check her out on Flickr
Sorry for the vast lack of updates on this blog. I totally feel redundant saying those words, but it’s true. After a week or so goes by without an update, you begin to wonder how to jump back in without reciting those words. BUT, i’m making a pact to myself right now to try and update at least once a week. At least. I’m not THAT busy. This should be easy, right? RIGHT? Okay then.
So within the absence has become a flurry of things i meant to write about. So what i plan on doing is within the next few days, post a bagillion times and annoy the friggin daylights out of everyone in a remote distance of this wordpress blog. Sound good? Cool.
I’m not sure why, but Monday is the worst day of the week for me. It’s not like i have a job, or It’s the first day of the school week for me, It’s just another day. So why do I despise it so much?
Mondays are always a terrible day for me. I don’t know why but i suddenly become bi-polar and seem to think everyone is out to get me. I’m an asshole to my friends and generally a bitter person to be around. Maybe because i have so much on my mind from the weekend that things begin to stir? Who knows.
There is a bright side, Mondays open the door for me to write a lot about this bitterness, and having that as a once-a-week routine makes it easier to crank out new tunes a lot faster.
After pulling an all-nighter with my best friend, having a heart-to-heart with his roommate, sneaking out and causing mischief, swimming at 7 AM, and simultaneously getting banned from ever spending the night there again, (and ruining it for future friends spending the night) I realized something. After all the bromancing, In a few years, where will we be? Sure I hang out with Dean like at least two or three times a week, (something his girlfriend and parents aren’t particularly stoked about) But what’s to happen in the future? We started to plan this out, and I’m just writing this out so i remember, when plans change. We are going to move into an apartment together, both get steady jobs, and start saving. While working full time jobs, were going to be trying to pursue a successful career in making small flash video games, Comedy videos, and for me, my music. I speak for us both when i say that we realize this is a huge thing were going to be taking on, but it won’t all be at once. After a year of our apartment life, were going to hopefully have enough saved up to start renting a house. We have big hopes and even bigger dreams, but that’s what we have in common. We are both strong willed individuals who will find a way to get done whatever needs to be done. I trust him just as much as i trust my family, and that’s saying something. I hope this all works out the way we want it to…
I know it’s a little late, Skate 2 came out in January. But hey, better late than never truly sums up this post. I am so glad i finally got a chance to sit down with this. After tons of people telling me it was amazing and that if i liked Tony Hawk’s games, i would love this. Thus, i downloaded the demo.
I couldn’t get enough of it. I played through the demo tons of times, more so for the 7 minutes of freeskate at the end than anything. So I bought the game. I was pretty sure this was a safe bet, considering how much i loved the demo. It was. Sure enough once i started playing, about 5 hours went by and i didn’t even realize it. This was a game where i could be totally oblivious to where i needed to be and what i needed to do that day, and just mindlessly play
I went through two fully charged PS3 controllers’ battery life on this game in one night. That is how addictive and fun this game is. Sure, it’s not backed by tons of pro’s like the TH games, but with a solid game like this, I don’t think it matters. The control scheme is easy to get used to, even if your used to TH games. (I tried to grind with triangle once, never did again.) The online play is pretty solid, you can go online and play with your friends, or random people around the world. The multiplayer is really fun. “Own The Spot” was the game i was good at, whereas my friends were all good at “The Hall Of Meat.” I really like the way they make you feel like you are in the game as opposed to controlling someone in the game. Moral of the story: If you haven’t already, check out Skate 2!
Oh jeez. Sony’s Conference was probably the one i was most excited for at E3. Last year, i watched their conference in awe. I Wanted a PS3 so bad at that point it was kind of sad i hadn’t saved up and bought one yet. But, alas! this year at E3 i am the proud owner of a PS3, and was even more stoked about Sony’s announcements and exclusives.
PSP Go!
Kazuo Hirai, Chairman and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. unveiled it by simply stating “This is the worst kept secret of E3.” It has 16gb of flash memory, built in Wi-Fi, a touch screen, and launches October 1st 2009, for $249.99. He backed this with confirmation that the PSP 3000 isn’t going anywhere, as there are still gamers who like to buy physical games. After the announcement of the PSP Go!, he added that thousands of Movies and TV Shows will be added to the PSN store specifically for the PSP, and unleashed new software called “Media Go” that replaces the current PSP computer software used for downloading from the PSN store.
A slew of PSP games were announced including Resident Evil, Little Big Planet, Motorstorm: Artic Edge, Grand Torismo, and Rock Band Adaptations for the handheld.
Metal Gear Solid: Peacemaker
Despite MGS no longer being a Playstation Exclusive, a handheld PSP game is set to release in 2010, that takes place 10 years after Metal Gear Solid 3, in the 1970′s. The game is said to be an entirely new game for the franchise, and not a side story.
God Of War III
Finishing off the Playstation Trilogy based on Greek Mythology, God Of War promises what fans of the series want, but yet has enough polish and gore to interest gamers who maybe have never played a GOW game. I hope i speak for everyone when i say that my jaw dropped when i saw the live demo of this at E3. The graphics, and the GORE are enough to pick up this game! SCEA gave us a nice look into what we will be playing in MARCH 2010. Yeah, It’s far.
MAG
Remember that game last year at E3 that had everyone saying “Yeah, right” when they teased things like 256 online players at once? Well this year’s E3 treated us to a glorious live demo of massive online gaming in real time. MAG. This Zipper Interactive game is Online Only and releases in late 2009. Check it out:
Also at the SCEA conference, they revealed that there are 364 games coming out on all PlayStation platforms this year, including, but not limited to: Assasins Creed 2, Uncharted 2, Agent, Modnation Racers, Grand Torismo 5, and The Last Guardian.
So the motion-sensing rumors were true?
Yep. while this wasn’t quite “Project Natal” i think they did this in a very tasteful way. Using the already established Playstation Eye, They really showed off a lot of possibilities with the controller. And not just elephants. First person shooter mode made us cream our pants at the thought of stepping in the shoes of our favorite video game heroes…or villains for that matter. (inFAMOUS anyone?) Anyway, unlike microsoft with their lack of release date, Sony announced that the new motion sensitive controllers will be in gamers hands Spring 2010.
Overall, the bar continues to be raised for E3, and each year continues to be better than the last. This was an outstanding E3, and I hope I can say the same next year!
Going into this, i was positive that if Nintendo didn’t announce new games for core Nintendo fans I would be done. Their conference starts, and i see Cammie Dunnaway’s face. This is the face of disappointment, but shockingly no disappointment this year.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
They opened up their conference starting off with announcing New Super Mario Bros. Wii.(Yessss!) I think this game should have been a Wii game anyway because the original SMB was a console game. But It’s here so i am stoked. NSMB is probably my favorite DS game and the Wii version looks really amazing. I was so excited to see this so early on that I had hope for the rest of the conference.
Wii Motion Plus
Next they got on to talking about Wii Motion Plus. While Wii sports resort looks fun, I’m not so sure I’ll be buying the hardware right away until there are a significant amount of games worth playing with it. Are you in the same boat as me? Did you plan on buying Red Steel 2? Well plan on buying the Wii Motion Plus, because you won’t be playing without it. Today at E3, Reggie stated that “The Developers of Red Steel 2 are so dedicated to the Wii Motion Plus that you won’t be able to play the game without it.” Wii Motion Plus will come bundled with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 as well as Wii Sports Resort.
Wario Ware DIY
I’ve always been a fan of the Wario Ware games, ever since Wario Ware: Touched! for DS came out. Something about the addicting overhaul of mini games keeps bringing me back for more! In their newest installment players will be able to not only create their own challenges, but upload and share them over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, or with friends locally.
Wii Vitality Sensor
What is the Wii now a doctor too? I can see it now: “Going into cardiac arrest? Just slip on the Wii Vitality Sensor and boot up your copy of Trauma Center, and your good to go!” Nintendo made no attempt to clue us in on how, when, or if this will arrive. No prototype, just a picture on the screen similar to the one above.
Other Announcements:
Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be released in 2010.
Kingdom Hearts for DS coming September 2009.
Golden Sun DS (We’ve been waiting) – Release Date TBA
The Legend Of Zelda: Spirit Tracks for DS – Holiday 2009
They Also announced a slew of Wii Exclusives:
The Conduit – June 2009
Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles – TBA 2010
Dead Space: Extraction – September 2009
annndddd…
METROID: OTHER M – 2010
Nintendo is partnering with Team Ninja to bring gamers the latest installment of Metroid action. This game returns to the Third-Person style fans have been wanting to see. I am SO excited for this game. Even though it has a 2010 release date, I don’t care. Nintendo waited until the very end of their conference to blow all the core Nintendo fans away. I’m beyond excited for this title, and you should be too.
